Family vacations are a time to relax, reconnect, and enjoy one another. And after a busy holiday season, a vacation was just what we needed. So, we packed our bags and hopped on a plane to a tropical destination: the gorgeous Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orange Lake Resort. It wasn’t long after we stepped foot on the resort property that we knew we were never going to want to leave. There was so much to see and do and we were so excited to experience it all together.

So where is Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orange Lake Resort? It is located in the heart of Central Florida and covers more than 1,400 acres. It is known for its year-round sunshine and proximity to popular amusement parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando, LEGOLAND, and SeaWorld Orlando. If you are looking to stay in Orlando but want a resort that feels more like a home away from home, Orange Lake Resort is the perfect destination.

Let’s talk about the villas. There are a variety of lodging options available, ranging from studios to three bedrooms. We stayed in a beautiful and spacious two-bedroom villa, which was perfect for our family. All villas come complete with a living room, kitchen/kitchenette, and a full-size washer and dryer. On our first day, we visited the grocery store (located across the street from the resort) and stocked up on easy breakfast items and snacks. It was so helpful to have our favorite snacks on hand during our visit!

When it comes to entertainment and activities, Holiday Inn Club Orange Lake Resort practically rolls out the red carpet for families. There are endless opportunities and activities at every corner and you will feel like you never have to leave the grounds to have fun! From splashing around in one of their seven pools or relaxing in the Lazy River style pool, to playing a round of mini golf, or rock climbing with your kiddos, there is so much to do! The best part: there is a complimentary resort shuttle ready to transport you to any of these on-site destinations. We spent most of our time in River Island, letting the girls splash around in the zero-entry pool (perfect for little swimmers), and watching Grey go down the water slide too many times to count!

There are also eight different restaurants on-site that offer family favorites like pizza, pasta, burgers, and salads! And if you are craving something light, you’ll love Currents Café, where they serve Starbucks coffee and offer delicious wraps and pastries. We visited a few of their restaurants during our stay and the quality of service and food did not disappoint.

On our last day, we visited Walt Disney World. It was a quick 15-minute drive from the resort, which was so helpful when it came to getting everyone out the door in the morning as well as bringing three sleepy Mouseketeers back in the evening. This was our first visit to Walt Disney World with the kids and we were so excited to experience the magic through their eyes.

We started our morning at Magic Kingdom and rode all the classic rides: Dumbo, Peter Pan’s Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It’s a Small World, just to name a few. We made our way around the park and took Grey on some of the more thrilling rides like Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Trail, and The Barnstormer. In between rides, we stopped for ice cream and treats and enjoyed watching parades on Main Street USA.

We also made time to schedule character meet and greets (would highly recommend). It was so special watching each of the kids interact with their favorite characters and princesses. In the early evening we decided to take the Disney bus over to Hollywood Studios to enjoy some of the attractions there. Our first Stop: Toy Story Land where we said hello to Woody, Buzz, and Jessie! We then made it over to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge to ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Grey’s new favorite ride). We ended the evening grabbing dinner and watching the Fantasmic Nighttime Show, which was the perfect ending to a magical day at the “Happiest Place on Earth.”

After an amazing week of creating unforgettable memories together as a family, it was hard to say goodbye. The kids are still talking about our trip and we are already looking forward to our next visit!
